How it worksMelanocortin-4 receptor agonist in the hypothalamus; acts on desire pathways rather than vascular function.Activates the KISS1 receptor on GnRH neurons in the hypothalamus, triggering GnRH release. That leads the pituitary to release LH and FSH, which drive testosterone and estrogen production. Brain-imaging studies also suggest it enhances processing of sexual and romantic cues.
