A small-molecule NNMT blocker with mouse data only — not actually a peptide.
Last reviewed Oct 7, 2026 · How we rate evidence · Report an error
5-Amino-1MQ is a small molecule, not a peptide, though it is sold alongside peptides. It blocks an enzyme called NNMT that is high in fat tissue. In diet-induced obese mice it reduced body weight and fat-cell size without changing food intake. There are no published human trials.
Inhibits nicotinamide N-methyltransferase (NNMT). Less NNMT activity is thought to preserve NAD+ and SAM (a methyl donor) inside fat cells, nudging them to burn more energy and store less fat. This is based on cell and mouse work.

Mostly animal dataMost of the evidence is from animal or cell studies, with tiny or uncontrolled human reports at most.
Cell studies and a small number of mouse studies; no published human trials. How we rate evidence
Reduced body weight and fat mass over about 11 days in diet-induced obese mice, with no change in food intake.
Shrank fat cells and lowered fat storage in lab and mouse studies.
Improved muscle regeneration in aged mice in one study.
Reported by users; no controlled human data.
“Anecdotal” means reported by users, not shown in controlled trials. Sources
Not recommendations. These are commonly cited ranges, shown so you can see what real-world use looks like.
| Plan | Dose | Frequency | Duration | Route |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Community-reported (vial) Users often start at 2.5 mg for a few days. Not a studied human dose. | 5 mg | Once daily | 4–6 weeks, then break | Subcutaneous |
| Community-reported (oral capsule) Capsules are the more common form. Not applicable to the vial calculator. | 50 mg | 1–3× daily | 4–8 weeks | Oral |

At a common mix of 50 mg of 5-Amino-1MQ in 5 mL of water (10 mg/mL), these commonly reported doses come to the following on a U-100 insulin syringe (100 units = 1 mL). They are examples of the arithmetic, not recommendations.
| Reported plan | Dose | Draw to | Volume |
|---|---|---|---|
| Community-reported (vial) | 5 mg | 50 units | 0.5 mL |
Concentration (mg/mL) = vial mg ÷ mL of water; units = dose (mg) ÷ concentration × 100. A different vial size or amount of water changes every number above.

Powder
Freezer / fridge
Keep sealed vial in the freezer (−20 °C) for long-term storage; fridge (2–8 °C) is fine for a few weeks. Keep dry and out of light.
After mixing
~28 days
Refrigerate at 2–8 °C. Never freeze after mixing. Keep upright, capped, and out of light.
Travel
Keep cool
Short trips at room temperature are generally fine for powder; keep mixed vials cold.
An experimental research compound. Never tested in published human trials and not approved for any use. Sold as a research chemical.
Regulations change often — verify with the FDA, EMA, MHRA, Health Canada, TGA and WADA before acting.
No. It's a small molecule (about 159 g/mol for the active part), much smaller than any peptide on this site.
Both are sold. Oral capsules are more common; vials are used at much smaller doses. Neither has been studied in humans.
Users report changes over several weeks, but with no human trials there is no reliable answer and placebo can't be ruled out.
It depends on the mix. At a common mix of 50 mg of 5-Amino-1MQ in 5 mL of water (10 mg/mL), 5 mg is 50 units (0.5 mL) on a U-100 insulin syringe. The formula is dose in mg ÷ concentration in mg/mL × 100. Change the vial size or water in the calculator and the units update. This is math, not a dose recommendation.
Bacteriostatic water (0.9% benzyl alcohol) — allows multiple draws from one vial. A common mix is 50 mg + 5 mL, which gives 10 mg/mL. Less water makes a stronger mix and fewer units per dose; more water makes a weaker mix and more units. Pick the amount that lands your dose on an easy-to-read line.
Refrigerate at 2–8 °C. Never freeze after mixing. Keep upright, capped, and out of light. Plan on about 28 days once it is mixed, and discard it sooner if it turns cloudy or has particles. The calculator shows how long a vial lasts at your dose and flags a vial that outlasts its shelf life.
Evidence rating (2/5): Cell studies and a small number of mouse studies; no published human trials.
