The master switch for reproductive hormones — studied in real human trials.
Last reviewed Oct 7, 2026 · How we rate evidence · Report an error
Kisspeptin-10, 10 amino acids, 1302.4 g/mol.
Kisspeptin is a natural hormone made in the brain that switches on the reproductive hormone chain (GnRH, then LH and FSH, then testosterone or estrogen). Kisspeptin-10 is its shortest active piece. Human studies, mostly from academic reproductive-endocrinology groups, show it raises LH and testosterone and is being tested in IVF and low sexual desire. It is not approved for any use.
Activates the KISS1 receptor on GnRH neurons in the hypothalamus, triggering GnRH release. That leads the pituitary to release LH and FSH, which drive testosterone and estrogen production. Brain-imaging studies also suggest it enhances processing of sexual and romantic cues.

Many small human physiology studies and early-phase clinical trials (IVF egg maturation, low sexual desire). No large Phase 3 trials and no approval. How we rate evidence
Kisspeptin-10 given to healthy men acutely increased LH and testosterone in clinical studies.
The longer form, kisspeptin-54, has been used to trigger egg maturation in IVF trials, with a low rate of ovarian hyperstimulation.
Small studies in men and women with low sexual desire showed changes in brain responses and arousal measures.

Set up for Kisspeptin-10. Switch vial size any time. Educational math only, not dosing advice.
At a common mix of 10 mg of Kisspeptin-10 in 5 mL of water (2 mg/mL), these commonly reported doses come to the following on a U-100 insulin syringe (100 units = 1 mL). They are examples of the arithmetic, not recommendations.
| Reported plan | Dose | Draw to | Volume |
|---|---|---|---|
| Community | 100 mcg | 5 units | 0.05 mL |
Concentration (mg/mL) = vial mg ÷ mL of water; units = dose (mg) ÷ concentration × 100. A different vial size or amount of water changes every number above.

Powder
Freezer / fridge
Keep sealed vial in the freezer (−20 °C) for long-term storage; fridge (2–8 °C) is fine for a few weeks. Keep dry and out of light.
After mixing
~28 days
Refrigerate at 2–8 °C. Never freeze after mixing. Keep upright, capped, and out of light.
Travel
Keep cool
Short trips at room temperature are generally fine for powder; keep mixed vials cold.
Kisspeptin is used in academic clinical research, mainly in reproductive endocrinology, but no kisspeptin product is approved in the US. Research vials are sold as research chemicals.
Regulations change often — verify with the FDA, EMA, MHRA, Health Canada, TGA and WADA before acting.
No. It prompts your own body to make more testosterone through LH, rather than adding testosterone directly. Effects in studies were short-lived after a single dose.
The reproductive system responds to pulses. Constant exposure can blunt the response, so dosing pattern matters more than with many peptides.
Kisspeptin-10 is the short active tail and clears within minutes. Kisspeptin-54 is the longer natural form that lasts longer and was used in most IVF trials.
It depends on the mix. At a common mix of 10 mg of Kisspeptin-10 in 5 mL of water (2 mg/mL), 100 mcg is 5 units (0.05 mL) on a U-100 insulin syringe. The formula is dose in mg ÷ concentration in mg/mL × 100. Change the vial size or water in the calculator and the units update. This is math, not a dose recommendation.
Bacteriostatic water (0.9% benzyl alcohol) — allows multiple draws from one vial. A common mix is 10 mg + 5 mL, which gives 2 mg/mL. Less water makes a stronger mix and fewer units per dose; more water makes a weaker mix and more units. Pick the amount that lands your dose on an easy-to-read line.
Refrigerate at 2–8 °C. Never freeze after mixing. Keep upright, capped, and out of light. Plan on about 28 days once it is mixed, and discard it sooner if it turns cloudy or has particles. The calculator shows how long a vial lasts at your dose and flags a vial that outlasts its shelf life.
