The most-discussed healing peptide, built on a stomach-protein fragment.
Last reviewed Oct 7, 2026 · How we rate evidence · Report an error
BPC-157, 15 amino acids, 1419.5 g/mol.
A 15-amino-acid peptide derived from a protein found in gastric juice. In rodents it speeds healing of tendon, muscle, ligament, gut and nerve injuries. Human data is almost nonexistent, so nearly everything you read is extrapolated from animal work and user reports.
Appears to up-regulate growth-factor receptors (VEGFR2, growth hormone receptor), promote new blood vessel formation (angiogenesis), and modulate nitric-oxide signaling. Exact human pharmacology is not established.
Evidence
2/5
Dozens of rodent studies; only tiny human pilot data (e.g. knee pain retrospective, IV safety pilot).
Half-life
Short (hours); effects thought to be local + signaling driven
Known as
Body Protection Compound-157, Bepecin, PL 14736

Mostly animal dataMost of the evidence is from animal or cell studies, with tiny or uncontrolled human reports at most.
Dozens of rodent studies; only tiny human pilot data (e.g. knee pain retrospective, IV safety pilot). How we rate evidence
Accelerated healing and tendon-to-bone repair in rat models.
Reduced ulcer and colitis damage in animals; origin of the name 'body protection'.
Users commonly report less joint pain and faster return to training.
Promotes blood-vessel growth around injury in lab models.
“Anecdotal” means reported by users, not shown in controlled trials. Sources
Not recommendations. These are commonly cited ranges, shown so you can see what real-world use looks like.
| Plan | Dose | Frequency | Duration | Route |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Standard Most commonly cited starting point. | 250 mcg | 1–2× daily | 4–6 weeks | Subcutaneous, near injury site |
| Higher Upper end of community range; take 2–4 weeks off after. | 500 mcg | 1–2× daily | 6–8 weeks | Subcutaneous |
| Cautious start | 200 mcg | Once daily | 2 weeks, then reassess | Subcutaneous |

At a common mix of 5 mg of BPC-157 in 2 mL of water (2.5 mg/mL), these commonly reported doses come to the following on a U-100 insulin syringe (100 units = 1 mL). They are examples of the arithmetic, not recommendations.
| Reported plan | Dose | Draw to | Volume |
|---|---|---|---|
| Standard | 250 mcg | 10 units | 0.1 mL |
| Higher | 500 mcg | 20 units | 0.2 mL |
| Cautious start | 200 mcg | 8 units | 0.08 mL |
Concentration (mg/mL) = vial mg ÷ mL of water; units = dose (mg) ÷ concentration × 100. A different vial size or amount of water changes every number above.

Powder
Freezer / fridge
Keep sealed vial in the freezer (−20 °C) for long-term storage; fridge (2–8 °C) is fine for a few weeks. Keep dry and out of light.
After mixing
~28 days
Refrigerate at 2–8 °C. Never freeze after mixing. Keep upright, capped, and out of light.
Travel
Keep cool
Short trips at room temperature are generally fine for powder; keep mixed vials cold.
Not an approved drug. FDA had listed it in compounding Category 2 (safety concerns) until April 2026, when its nomination was withdrawn. On July 23, 2026 FDA's compounding advisory committee voted 8–6 to recommend adding it to the 503A bulks list; a recommendation is not approval. Sold online as a 'research chemical'. Check the FDA 503A categories page for the current status.
Regulations change often — verify with the FDA, EMA, MHRA, Health Canada, TGA and WADA before acting.
Many users inject subcutaneously close to the site; others inject in the abdomen. There is no human trial proving one is better.
Animal gut studies used oral dosing, but systemic effects in humans are unproven for either route.
Users typically report 1–3 weeks. Because evidence is anecdotal, placebo effect can't be ruled out.
It depends on the mix. At a common mix of 5 mg of BPC-157 in 2 mL of water (2.5 mg/mL), 250 mcg is 10 units (0.1 mL) on a U-100 insulin syringe. The formula is dose in mg ÷ concentration in mg/mL × 100. Change the vial size or water in the calculator and the units update. This is math, not a dose recommendation.
Bacteriostatic water (0.9% benzyl alcohol) — allows multiple draws from one vial. A common mix is 5 mg + 2 mL, which gives 2.5 mg/mL. Less water makes a stronger mix and fewer units per dose; more water makes a weaker mix and more units. Pick the amount that lands your dose on an easy-to-read line.
Refrigerate at 2–8 °C. Never freeze after mixing. Keep upright, capped, and out of light. Plan on about 28 days once it is mixed, and discard it sooner if it turns cloudy or has particles. The calculator shows how long a vial lasts at your dose and flags a vial that outlasts its shelf life.
